The 2015 Kentucky State Fair hosted the first ever Kentucky Pork Challenge cooking competition on August 27.
Sponsored by the Kentucky Pork Producers, cooks were invited to submit their most creative pork recipes combining fresh pork with up to five other ingredients for a main dish.
Taking top honors was Rita Safranek of Louisville, KY, who was awarded $250. Coming in second and awarded $100 was David Goodman of Louisville. In third place was Lynn Rupley, who was awarded $50.
The Kentucky State Fair cooking competitions have become a favorite part of the fair for many cooks and food fans. The Kentucky Pork Producers look forward to seeing how the competition will grow in the coming years.
